“I’ve been looking out of a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what I might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it’s not everything I dreamed it would be?”
“It will be.”
“And what if it is? What do I do then?”
“Well, that’s the good part I guess. You get to go find a new dream.”
-Tangled
I am so excited to go to Europe. Traveling with two friends for a week, studying for eight weeks in Greece, and traveling with another friend for two and a half weeks before my return to the States? Yes, please! During my last two weeks in Bloomington, finals and school attempted to take over my life. My escape: researching Greece. Beyond researching Greece, my bright spots of those two weeks include hanging out with friends, watching Tangled, and thinking about Europe. Even with all of that research, I still have so much to do to be prepared. My to-do list never seems to get smaller. Finding an outfit suitable for churches, buying luggage, convincing my mom that my plan for luggage will work, deciding on a transportation method, and figuring out the money system for Europe. And the countdown is only 6 days! Daydreaming about the actual trip helps motivate me, but even then logistical issues pop up everywhere. How will this work? How will that work? How will I deal with this situation or that situation?
Everyone keeps telling me that Europe will be one of the greatest experiences of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely believe that I will have an amazing summer. I just don’t want to get my hopes and expectations up too high. Multiple viewings of Tangled left me wondering: “What if it’s not everything I dreamed it would be?” I just have to be Flynn and remind myself “It will be.”
